Highlights from my year at Ferris State University

Let me tell you what—this year has been my craziest, busiest, most exciting year at Ferris to date. From making friends, to losing friends – I definitely wouldn’t change a thing that happened.

Well, maybe one thing. A lot of people who are close to me know that my living situation this year has not been the greatest. From slammed doors to screaming matches, it hasn’t been easy. One day in particular that was really bad was when both my car and my roommate Hana’s car were victims of the “pee prank.” Basically, this is when someone puts yellow food coloring and water together then dumps it all over your car—only for it to freeze overnight and look like pee in the morning. Long story short, police were called, our apartment manager got involved, and in the end – the individuals who did it apologized. They only apologized after their parents got on the phone and made them do it. Oh, did I mention the person who did it is my cousin. Therefore, the main lesson that I learned this year is to never, ever, ever, ever, live with your family.
Since all that drama went down, I started seeing a therapist. She has been a godsend and has helped me through my anxiety, stress, and particularly my living situation. I definitely wouldn’t have made it through the year without our weekly Monday meetings. This past Monday was our last counseling appointment until the fall. If you are at all skeptical about seeing a therapist, come talk to me about it. It is truly helpful.

One thing that has been really great this year is that I have made so many new friendships. I started off the year only knowing a couple people in my program, but now I have an amazing friend group that I can go to for anything. With some of them graduating this semester, I'm so grateful for the time we got to spend together this year. From late night Meijer runs to frozen yogurt. I will miss them greatly.

Finally, the last exciting part of my year comes down to what I will be doing this summer. I have accepted an internship with Sandbox Entertainment in Nashville. I move down there in 2 weeks with one of my best friends. I will be working in artist management with so very cool artists.

I can’t wait to see where this summer and next year takes me!
